Tana Poppino - Champion Barrel Racer

Is this the season that Tana Poppino takes it all?

EquiPride thinks it will be.

In Ft. Worth, Tana was the high money winner, winning almost $14,000.

Her horse Goose took to the track with an aggressive poise, blowing away the competition as he recorded the fastest time of the rodeo with a blistering 16.73 second run. With a solid first run 16.99 already locked in, Goose stumbled a little on the 3rd run of the competition and they got a 17.49, giving her a total of 51.21. Even with that stumble, Goose and Tana still won by two 0ths

Tana and Goose had to beat out 236 competitors in Ft. Worth to win the event, but she did, and we here at EquiPride couldn’t be more proud of Tana and Goose.

With the win, this should put Tana amongst the top racers in the standings. Various unofficial reports have her consistently ranked either 1st or 2nd. However you slice it, Tana is always Number 1 with us.

The ever-humble Poppino on this racing season, “We all have our place in the world, and right now, God has put me here. I feel honored and excited to be here and I am going to continue to do my best while I am here.”

And when asked, if she had any other comments, she simply said, “Goose Loves EquiPride.”

[The barrel racers were well represented with Tana Poppino being the high money winner of the rodeo. It’s taken a while for Tana Poppino and her gray horse “Goose” to get together, but they did it here in a big way. They had three runs totaling 51.21 seconds. That netted her $13,768 making her the high money winner of the rodeo.

“It’s so awesome to win here,” she said. “This is one of the big major rodeos. It’s awesome that they opened the barrel race up and they are letting all of us come compete here. It made a difference in the prize money and gave us all an opportunity.”]
