SweetPro®
introduces EquiPride™ - A top-dress which
combines several nutritional factors into one powerful supplement.
EquiPride blends vitamins, organic complexed minerals, stabilized milled
flax and distillers grains with ProBiotein™, our proprietary additive.
“With EquiPride, we noticed that our horses had more endurance but
without becoming excitable - or ‘HOT.’ Most people feed extra grain
to get that extra energy but we don’t have to. We’ve virtually eliminated
graining our horses.”

More Information
ProBiotein is a proprietary blend-additive consisting of yeast
culture, prebiotic oligosaccharides, enzymes, and protein isolates.
The Yeast in ProBiotein, cultured on a media of wheat, oats, barley
malt and flax, is rich in biotin and other nutrients to aid digestion.
The Oligosaccharides, often called “prebiotics,” because they feed
the beneficial probiotic bacteria, are a key part of the ProBiotein
additive. These prebiotics help maintain good digestive tract health.
Enzymes, the catalysts of digestion are included
in a fibrinolytic, amylolytic & proteolytic array to assist
fiber, protein and mineral utilization.
Flax helps in many ways. The oil is dense energy which is high in
Omega 3 fatty acid content. Omega 3 is an essential fatty acid often
missing in modern diets. Flax is also among the richest sources of
lignans, which help improve immune function. Organic complexed minerals
are featured. Zinc, copper and manganese are complexed, or bound
to protein instead of other minerals, assuring high bioavailability.
EquiPride also includes ethyl
alcohol to raise palatability,
enhance fiber digestion and add another non-starch energy source.
Now with feed efficiency boost, the cost of maintaining your horse
in top condition can be reduced.
Look for up to 25% improvement in forage feed efficiency with SweetPro’s
EquiPride.
Digestive Aide, Vitamin and Mineral Supplement for Horses
Horses are hind-gut, foraging herbivores with a comparatively small
stomach. A horse left to it’s natural foraging patterns will graze
on high fiber grasses and hay many hours of the day allowing its
small stomach to balance acid and enzyme digestion with the fermentation
digestion of the cecum and colon (hind gut).
Because so many horses are boarded in stalls and non-pasture confines,
they are fed in shorter time periods and with more concentrated energy
feeds such as grain that is high in starch.
This is where SweetPro® Feeds EquiPride™ is helpful in aiding the
digestion of the typical stable diet.
How EquiPride™ Works
Because a horse produces less natural amylase (starch digestive enzyme)
than other animals, (i.e. 10% of what hogs produce) the chances
are greater for undigested starch reaching the cecum and colon.
The cecum and colon are the areas where feed is digested by other
organisms rather than by acid and enzymes. Mostly, the populations
of these organisms prefer hay and other forages, not grain. As a
result, elevated levels of grain starch force a shift in their population
and in the process, acid levels rise and start to cause problems
such as colic, laminitis and ulcers.
EquiPride™ as a digestive aide consists largely of externally processed
ingredients that have been pre-digested for the horse and improves
the nutrient utilization of the horse’s entire ration, as well as
adding key nutrients.
ProBiotein™ is the SweetPro® Feeds proprietary “blend additive”
in EquiPride™ which constitutes the digestive aide. We stress the
blend aspect of ProBiotein™ since digestion is a complex process
that is influenced by many factors and combinations of factors. No
single “silver bullet” ingredient is going to get the job done.
ProBiotein™
• Enzymes (amylolytic, fibrinolytic, proteolytic);
• Yeast (saccharomyces cerevisiae);
• Fiber and fermentation metabolites;
• Oligosaccharides (prebiotic, i.e., food for probiotic bacteria);
• Protein Isolates (wheat, oats, barley, corn and flax) broadens
amino acid profile.
Flax Factor
Omega3 fatty acids (alpha linolenic with lignans).
Vitamins and Minerals
• Vitamins (A, D, E and d-Biotin are added to B complex vitamin from
yeast);
• Minerals (organic complexed trace minerals to raise bioavailability).
The amylases added to your horse’s diet via EquiPride™ include both
alpha amylase and glucoamylase (aspergillus oryzac extract) to help
mitigate problems. Additionally, there are other enzymes helping
digest fiber, protein and minerals. Blended with the enzymes are
oligosaccharides that help feed the beneficial bacteria and help
keep their populations high enough to exclude pathogenic bacteria
from getting a foothold.
A noteworthy component of the EquiPride™ blend is flax, which is
best known for its rich source of omega 3 fatty acid, so often neglected
in modern diets. Flax is one of the highest sources of lignans. Lignans
contribute to immune function. The major lignan in flax is SDG (seicoisolariciresinol
diglucoside).
Lignans from flax are being studied in human applications because
of strong antioxidant properties that may play a positive role in
certain cancers. This characteristic of lignans may also be responsible
for reduction in atherosclerotic plaque formation noted in animal
studies. The development of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes has been
shown to be due in part to oxidative stress. The flax lignan SDG
has been found to be effective in lowering the onset of both types
of diabetes due to its potent anti oxidative ability.
All these factors and components of EquiPride™ add up to improved
digestion allowing the horse’s immune system to maintain a wellness
that virtually eliminates the need for costly gastric, joint, hoof
and other chronic malady treatments, while giving energy, weight
maintenance and a shiny coat to this magnificent animal.
And this final note – when digestion is improved, less total feed
is needed. We are seeing forage requirements drop by over 20%. Depending
on prices, one can recover nearly half the cost of EquiPride™ in
feed savings alone!
EquiPride™ is the ounce of prevention that eliminates the pound
of cure.
EquiPride Instructions:
• Feed 1 oz daily per 100 lbs (cwt) of body weight
(10 oz for a 1,000 lb horse).
One full Cup of the included scoop weighs 5 oz.
• Feeding may be increased 50 percent (1.5 oz / cwt)
to improve initial intake and performance.
Do not exceed 4 lbs / hd in one day.
Note: Keep sealed to minimize evaporative loss of
ethyl alcohol and organic acids.
