“…each horse on our
farm has a new lease on life.”
March 22, 2005 / Mt. Pleasant, MI - On their farm in
Mt. Pleasant, MI, Adrienne & Eric Goffnett have several formerly
homeless horses. Most of them have had health issues and were sold
off or given up on. The Goffnett’s have taken them in, but it hasn’t
been easy. The vet bills began piling up and the health of the animals
did not improve despite of the best efforts of all involved.
This changed in October of ’04. Having called all the vets and experts
she could think of and not knowing what to do next, Adrienne asked
Eric if they could make one more run to Johnstons Elevator in Clare,
MI to look for something that could possibly help their situation.
There she came across SweetPro Feeds, EquiPride (which Johnstons
had recently taken on). After much debate with Eric and calls to
SweetPro, Adrienne decided to try it.
The first horse they started on EquiPride was a 14 year old thoroughbred
named Lalique. This horse was a well-known professional jumper in
Michigan but had developed a cracked front hoof from the coronet
down which nothing seemed to help. She also had a dull coat and hay
belly. So she was sold off to the Goffnett’s and later began to colic
regularly and refuse feed despite their constant attention (they
couldn’t leave the farm!), fresh water (which she wouldn’t drink),
daily stall cleaning, vet examinations, experts consulted and the
best hay & feed they could find. However, after 10 days on EquiPride,
Lalique began to drink her water and eat all her rations. Since then
her coat has become shiny, eyes bright, her split hoof has healed
and best of all – no more colic! The Goffnett’s are thrilled with
her recovery and Lalique feels great. She’s happy and her thoroughbred
spirit is back!
After this success they put their 17 year old Belgian mare, Missy,
and Eric’s prized 12 year old Belgian gelding, Markey, on EquiPride.
Missy had an ulcerated eye, that was swollen, blinded and constantly
ran. They had tried many remedies to heal her problem without success,
until they put her on EquiPride! Within a few short months Missy’s
eye has completely healed, is bright and she can see again! She now
acts like a 2 year old.
Markey on the other hand had a sinker/rotated coffin bone in his
front right hoof. He was treated by many different farriers who worked
hard to try and save him, but nothing seemed to help until EquiPride.
The front of his hoof from the coronary band down was missing and
in three months, not only has the coffin bone rotated back, but his
hoof has grown out 3 inches and is still coming on strong. In another
3 months he should have a whole new foot! Adrienne says he now feels
like he can pull Michigan to California thanks to EquiPride! (see
August 2005 pictures below)
In addition, there are a number of other horses on the farm the Goffnett’s
have taken in to save from neglect. All of them are now thriving
on EquiPride and looking good!
Adrienne and Eric say that, “…each horse on our farm has a
new lease on life.”
