In late May of 2003, one of Benvelle Equestrian Center’s horses, Classical Baron “Kat,” (a registered four-year-old breeding stock paint) came down with a serious case of colic. He would not eat nor drink for about 48 hours. Kat lost large amounts of weight, blood tests were off the charts, and he looked as if death were knocking at his doorstep.
