"EquiPride
helped save Smart Dressed Girl’s life and return her to health."
Smart Dressed Girl, a quarter horse mare (cutting) from Rio Neches
Ranch, inTyler, TX sloughed off her front hooves in September of
2006 (leaving only flesh around the bony column). The problem began
in June of 2006 and her condition rapidly deteriorated. Nothing
seemed to help.
By December of 2006 the veterinary bill was at $30K and there was
no improvement. At that time the decision was made to take her back
to the ranch. Jonathan and Erica Oland (head trainer and ranch manager)
had recently heard about EquiPride and the great success people with
laminitic horses were experiencing when using it. So they decided
to try putting her on strictly Coastal hay and EquiPride as a last
resort.
EquiPride was fed to the mare at double the recommended maintenance
rate of 1 ounce per hundred pounds of body weight per day. Because
of its pre-digested (by fermentation) nature and its ability to help
break down fully all of the daily ration, this rate of feeding was
not a problem. Her body merely absorbed more “tools” quickly.
Radiographs were taken during monthly veterinary checkups and steady
progress began to take place. By September of 2007 she had regrown
new front hooves and is no longer lame. Jonathan and Erica Oland
credit EquiPride with helping save Smart Dressed Girl’s life and
returning her to health.
